How to Entertain in Style This Summer

COUNTRY & TOWN HOUSE have written a great feature on Lillingston this month:

‘Oh, to be in England now that Summer is here……’ There is no greater feeling than entertaining in the great British outdoors. All your senses are awakened to the smell of freshly cut lawns, the sight of gardens in full bloom and butterflies dancing among the flowers. There’s the warmth of the sun, freshly picked fruit that tastes all the better for being in season. The English are known both for their passion for gardens and their natural love for entertaining at home.

blog photoTo celebrate Lillingston turning 21 years old we threw ourselves a fabulous cocktail party! The fun started with the invitations. Hand crafted fortune tellers in gold foiled boxes sent to a lucky selection of dearest clients and closest friends.

Held at Lights of Soho, the coolest and certainly brightest members club in town, vibrant cocktails adorned with origami creations were flowing all night. Mouthwatering food (and staff!) provided by Urban Caprice were devoured, bountiful flowers by Shane Connolly flooded the gallery and my personal highlight, the photo theatre:

We were also thrilled to have Issac Ferry DJ-ing till the early hours. The beat went on….

Neon Nights

Last Night was the opening of Lights of Soho’s brilliant new show ART OF BURNING MAN ( Setting Brewer Street ablaze with a homage to the vibrant art and culture of the iconic Burning Man Festival, the exhibition brings together iconic prints, bespoke installations and sculptures and of course a hole host of super neons. In preparation for our Lillingston party here in October is was a good opportunity to see how the space works, meet some of the regular members and a number of inspiring artists. Oh and I found a giant disco S…obviously in homage to me…how could I not love that!?

Going Global

This is the view from my HK desk and Lillingston’s Asian office which I my friend Ruby the Zebra! It is no wonder that I am inspired to do more parties in far flung exotic places which are now on my door step. We are excited to return to Vietnam to stage another party down on the Mekong, or imagine how magical it would be to do a dinner in a temple in Angkor Wat or on an island in Sri Lanka.

With Lillingston spreading its creative wings we are thrilled to be doing parties all over the world. Every day I am meeting new Asian contacts and discovering gem places. I am loving the fabric and flower markets and do regular trips into China. I am enjoying the HK life and embracing the general spirit: “You only live life once so live it to the full”

It was an exciting but big step for me after 21 years being based in London to head East. Lillingston has had a phenomenal year and I am extremely proud of our team!
